The Female Farmer Project came about early spring in 2013 when standing in the fields with one of my favorite farmers, Sarah Cassidy of Oxbow Farm. I snapped a picture of her on my iPhone as she was showing me the gorgeous purple broccoli that was ready to harvest. Over the next few days, I realized that I need to document these women farmers who are tasked with family, farm, and often an outside job, and share their stories of how they do it all, tirelessly and beautifully.
