The Future of farming is female

We are excited to spotlight a new series by our friend Rebecca Drobis! The Future of Farming is Female is an initiative by Rebecca to highlight the women farmers in the Maryland and Virginia area. Throughout the upcoming year, we will highlight her work including this series that was previously published in Washingtonian Magazine.

We’re so delighted to share a platform with Rebecca and highlight her wonderful work — be sure to keep checking back to see new stories about the women who grow our food and fiber!!

Meet Rebecca

Rebecca is a Washington DC-based photographer with a background in photojournalism. She is always looking to capture those distinctive “ah-ha!” moments that tell stories with a sense of warmth and authenticity.

For the past few years, she has been photographing meaningful stories of agriculture, conservation, community, and education. She recently captured photo stories of female farmers for American Farmland Trust’s Women for the Land Initiative.

She is also working on a long-term personal project, Grown Up West, which highlights positive stories of youth growing up on the Blackfeet Reservation in Northwest Montana.
