I run Dirigo Food Safety and The Smallholder Food Business Development Institute. I help small food producers and processors grow and scale their business. I am passionate about solving the hard problems that foodpreneurs face, whether it is government regulations, customer expectations, or employee problems, I've got tools to help them. When foodpreneurs understand their own thoughts, they can see what results they are getting in their life and get different ones. I came up with a way to understand how to think about thoughts (meta, I know) called STRIVE.
Safe- are people physically, financially and emotionally safe at work
Trained- are people trained to the task, to the systems? to lead?
Respected- are people respected at work?
Invested In- has management made the necessary investments in the product/process/problem?
Valued- Does management value the employees and the solutions to problems they bring?
Empowered- are people in the facility/farm empowered to solve problems?
