photo essay: the harvest
The harvesting of animals for food is something that happens every day on farms. I was invited to photograph Cindy Krepky of Dog Mountain Farm during a session of chicken processing. As a part of my personal photography ethos, I aim to never glamorize farming. I hope to show the true work of what it takes to get food to your plate. If I am to show the work – then this is the work.
I invite you into to a quiet morning on Cindy’s small farm, and offer you a look as she works with a gentle rhythm. The pace it is not rushed, nor frenzied. It is quite the opposite and reveals a deep respect and honor of the animal and the harvest.
