#WomenFeedTheWorld - International Women' Day 2017
Last year on International Women's Day, we tried something new. We hosted a social media campaign called #ILookLikeAFarmer - the intent was to smash stereotypes and flood twitter, instagram and facebook with images of female farmers - the statement of "I look like a farmer, because I am one" is a powerful one. One that reclaims the visual narrative. And boy was it powerful. All day long - starting in New Zealand, women began posting images of themselves - with the hashtag. WE EVEN TRENDED ON TWITTER!!
Do you think we can do it again? I know we can. But this year we are asking that you post pictures of yourself with the #WomenFeedTheWorld hashtag. Why? Because women grow 50% of the world's food -- and in some areas of the global south that number hits 80% (FAO Report)
