Write to Grow: How Women Are Cultivating Change through Words
The Female Farmer Project team recently descended upon Portland, Oregon, for the Women In Sustainable Agriculture Conference. We attended workshops (we even taught one on storytelling), roundtables and panels. We cornered women farmers in the hallways and interviewed them for the podcast, we laughed and cried along with these women as they shared their stories and we ate a lot of kale salads. The theme was "Building Connections Towards Resiliency" and it was a 48 hours of doing just that.
One evening, Lisa Kivirist, author of Soil Sisters, Homemade for Sale, Farmstead Chef, ECOpreneuring & Rural Renaissance hosted a panel of women writers. I thought you might like to see a round-up of those women and their books and maybe add a few to your list.
Write to Grow: How Women Are Cultivating Change through Words
"The written word mixed with a passion for a healthy, local food system can be a transformational and engaging combination, a tool we can all tap into to share our farming and food stories with the public. Join us for an intimate evening with a talented and diverse group of female authors championing the stories of sustainable agriculture. From memoirs to cookbooks, history to how-to, these women write from heartfelt experience that both fuels the movement and in various ways adds to a diversified livelihood and income mix."
